Lets first start off by saying my feelings for this book is both love and hate. There are aspects that I completely love about this book, but also aspects I didn't like. For the purpose of this review, and just because know body likes hearing bad news first, I will start by ranting about the love I have for this book.

Like: OMGosh! I totally love the concept and story Dane here has created. The only word I could think to describe this book when I turned the last page was, unique. I will admit the whole angel thing has been overdone this past year, but this isn't just some falling angel, love story. This was a story about our worst fear and his need for humanity. What is this fear you ask? Death. I don't know about you but I fear death. I know some people would disagree with this, but seriously, admit it, you don't want to die! Anyways, I really love the unique-ness Dane has crafted using the Angel of Death, or if you prefer, the Grim Reaper. This isn't some petty love story about an Angel loving a human. OK, it is, but not like Hush Hush or Fallen. I'm not going to tell you why this is so, because I don't want to mistakenly give anything away, but this is different, but a good different.

Another VERY love able thing I liked about this book was its difference. My favorite character was Tanner. Tanner is in a wheelchair. I hate to say this, but I think this is why I loved him THAT much more. It's not because I feel sorry for him, its because the author did something so different. I LOVE different in books. Have you ever read about a totally hot dude in a wheelchair? Didn't think so.

On a third note I loved the multiple perspectives this book had. We had the perspective of Abbey where we were basically in her mind. Then we had the perspectives of Tanner and Nate where the narrator spoke to us. It was kind of nice. I liked this.

For the record, lets just say this book was different than the usual, which makes this a great book.

Dislikes: Abbey, the main character, was annoying at times. Okay, we got it, you like kit kat's. I love toe socks but you don't see me shoving them down people's throats. We'd have a group of angry people with a sock in it. Haha, get it? (I'm just trying to be funny here)

This is such a minor thing to dislike about a book, but it was a big deal to me and really got on my nerves. There is a part in the book Abbey is with Nate. But its not really Nate (can't tell you why). Well, she knows something is wrong but she continues to act semi-normal. HELLO! Are you kidding me? If a guy I fantasised about just poofed out of know where, kissed me, and than told me to come back, saying "I'll always be here when you are," I'd be freaking. Like a said, such a minor thing, but a big nuisance. Like the Princess and the Pea. So small yet to annoying.

So should you read this? Yes, I think you should. It deserves all the reads it can get. It's not an entirely bad read and actually has some good morals in it. Like dealing with the death of a loved one, and about moving on from it. So you see, give it a try. If you don't like it, well, it's not like Death'll be knocking on your door.

My rating:
4 deathly ravens

A hot Tanner in a wheelchair,

Angela

  1. I haven't heard much about this book, but it seems good. Glad that despite your dislike for Abbey you still loved this book. And I definitely have never read a book where the hot guy is in a wheelchair (very different). That's awesome! Great review!

  2. The reviews where you have love/hate feelings for the book are always so hard to write. Appreciate the honest review!

    1. Yes! You have to then think about how to rate it based on these love/hate feelings. Do the likes out number the hates, or vice versa? And no problem. I always write honest reviews, otherwise they wouldn't be helpful ^.^
